A bold new initiative is underway to construct a modern sports stadium in Lofa County, with organisers launching a community-driven fundraising campaign aimed at rallying support for the ambitious project.
At the heart of the campaign is a fundraising dinner, with ticket prices ranging from $25 to $500 USD, though donors are encouraged to give more if they can. The event seeks to attract a wide range of supporters — from sports enthusiasts to community stakeholders.
Despite the humour, the goal is serious. Lofa County’s sports community has long called for improved infrastructure, and a dedicated stadium is seen as a transformative step toward developing local talent and hosting regional competitions.
The proposed stadium would serve as a hub for football, athletics, and other sporting events, creating opportunities for young athletes and strengthening community pride. Organisers are now using social media and public forums to gather opinions and galvanise support.
The initiative reflects growing efforts across Liberia to invest in sports infrastructure as a means of youth engagement, peacebuilding, and economic growth.
